Onion Recipe #2: Onion Jam

- 4 cups coarsely chopped onion
- Ground black pepper
Steps:

- Next, pour the red wine vinegar into the onion mixture. Simmer for about 30 minutes or until mixture has a jam consistency
- Serve
Onion Recipe #3: Onion Rings
Ingredients:
- 2 large yellow sweet onions (for example, Maui), sliced ¼ to1/2-inch thick
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 3 cups panko breadcrumbs
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 eggs
- 4 teaspoons salt
Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Put parchment paper onto 2 baking sheets, set them aside
- In a small bowl, combine the 2 teaspoons salt, paprika and flour. In shallow dish or another bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk. Add half of the flour mixture to the buttermilk. Beat it until thickened and smooth
- In a separate bowl, combine the remaining 2 teaspoons salt, olive oil and panko
- Dredge the onion rings in the flour mixture lightly. Then, drop into the buttermilk. Drain the excess batter and dredge in the panko mixture
- Arrange them on the prepared baking sheets in a single layer. If you want, you can place the smaller rings inside the bigger rings. Just remember to make sure there is space between them
- Next, place them in the oven. Cook for about 14 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. To ensure even crisping and browning, do not forget to flip over each onion ring halfway through the cooking time
So, which one do you want try first? The onion rings? The onion jam? Or the caramelized onion? Whatever your choice is, always remember that you can add your personal touch in the onion recipes presented above, if you want to. You want to add another ingredient? Go for it.
